A little more than 15 years ago, I was stopped at a red light in suburban Dallas. I happened to be in the back of a pickup truck, wearing work boots and covered in sheetrock dust (too long a story to tell here). The guy who pulled up in the car behind us was a high-school teammate of mine, and we recognized each other, even though we hadn't been in contact for years. He followed us to our destination and said,"What the * & %? Are you a construction worker now? With a Ph.D?" I tried to explain and he said,"Well, if you need a job, my brother and I just started this company." A few weeks later I went on a weekend installation for their first major customer. A few months after that, they hired me full time. The rest, as they say, is the history of our company. There have been ups and downs and lots of long hours, often in very cold food packaging/storage facilities. But it has never been boring. We still have that original customer and hundreds more.
