WHAT I DO: Senior scientist providing manufacturing support and process improvements for lateral flow assays (Point of care) in women's health. I specialize in sustainability and optimization of manufacturing processes, reduction of variability, investigations and identification of critical parameters that affect product performance. WHAT IS IT: The most well-known example of a lateral flow device on the market is the pregnancy test. Basically, this technology is a membrane-based assay that detects the presence or absence of a target protein in under 20 minutes. Generally, the detection method uses antibodies to identify the molecule of interest in a sample, such as whole blood, serum, plasma, saliva, urine, or food to name a few. This technology has become globally accepted as an inexpensive, easy-to-use and fast way to diagnose humans and animals with a variety of physical conditions and diseases. SPECIALTIES: Immunoassay development and manufacturing, rapid test development, point-of-care diagnostics, protein and nanoparticle conjugations, rapid assay optimization, automation (Reel-to-Reel).
