Retired from general pediatrics after 21 years, mechanical designer for 11 years, currently CTO of Reveal Biosensors, Inc. My ultimate goal is to develop an integrated care system for premature and distressed newborn infants. A key aspect of infant care technology is monitoring oxygen supply. I witnessed the introduction of pulse oximetry in the late 1970's and in demonstrated my successful prototype reflectance mode sensor design. Discovery of new biometric information in the spectral absorption signals of that prototype led to development of our Cellular Energy Monitor (EC monitor), which detects the oxygen supply status of skin tissue, rather than blood oxygen saturation.
