About Habib Samady

Being at the intersection of compassionate, patient-centric, and high quality cardiovascular healthcare delivery and technologically enriched discovery, I am inspired by the opportunity to practice medicine, mentor the next generation of clinical leaders, and serve local communities. I am passionate about the practice of contemporary interventional cardiology and have expertise in performing complex and high-risk physiology and image-guided coronary interventions, as well as coronary reactivity studies to uncover the mechanisms of occult ischemia. My 25-year career has included leading cardiovascular programs and service lines while practicing, mentoring, teaching, and performing research in interventional cardiology.I am a technology champion, with experience leveraging AI-based computational techniques in the investigation of hemodynamic and biomechanical mechanisms of coronary atherosclerosis disease progression and coronary microvascular disease. I hold multiple USPTO patents related to computational biomechanics, have published over 500 manuscripts and abstracts, served on numerous clinical trial steering committees, editorial boards, and am editor of the textbook "Interventional Cardiology", McGraw Hill.WHERE I’VE PREVIOUSLY MADE CONTRIBUTIONS Led the clinical, quality, and business strategy and operations to help restore the heart and vascular service line at Northeast Georgia Health System, moving the service line from #9 to #5 in Georgia in U.S. News and World Report rankings (2021-2023). Served as inaugural President of Georgia Heart Institute, the cardiology practice group and the cardiovascular service line of the 5 hospital Northeast Georgia Health System. Co-founded, and serve as vice chair of board of directors and chief clinical strategist for Covanos, Inc, an Emory based startup, with a computational hemodynamic and prognostic software solution that complements CT imaging for evaluation of coronary disease. As Director of Interventional Cardiology at Emory University Hospitals, I helped establish the country’s top 5 structural heart programs, and nationally recognized chronic total occlusion intervention and coronary reactivity programs. Trained over 100 interventional cardiology fellows and hundreds of general cardiology fellows.
