Background

About Hadicha Askarova

A driven individual with a background in human genetics and genomics. Having achieved a first class degree in BSc Medical Genetics and a Distinction in MSc in Genomic Medicine, this academic journey has equipped me with skills such as data analysis and attention to detail, computational biology (using coding programme R and other bioinformatics applications) and problem solving as well as scientific writing skills with foundational knowledge in a variety of therapeutic areas. My undergraduate third year project at the Blizzard Institute focused on proteins responsible for DNA damage repair and genome integrity particularly in prostate cancer and lead to the publication of my results as the third author of the final research paper. My postgraduate research project delved into the characterisation of rare neurological diseases within consanguineous families of Tajikistan where I further evolved my writing skills through my dissertation. Research aside, I have clinical experience as a nurse in a private healthcare clinic in which I had direct contact with patients and carried out medical procedures such as IV fluid drips. This clinical experience strengthened my professional-patient relationship, communication and interpersonal skills. As a Proposal Writer within the clinical trial and scientific research industry, I craft unique proposals based on therapeutic area, disease indications and specific client requirements. I work within a cross functional team to create proposal strategies, collate meaningful considerations, and deliver informative proposals to clients to accelerate drug development.
