About Hadlie Dallman

I am hardworking Engineer who has held several internships which have taught me many skills and lessons in various types of work settings. I have become adaptable and can overcome challenges while learning things on the fly. My experiences have prepared me for range of possibilities in front of me. The second year at Walker Engineered Products a subsidiary of Wabash National was focused on design work. I worked to design consistent technical drawings for a fitting that allowed for a temperature reading to be made without any interference. This fitting is used on many liquid silos that vary widely in size. This was a special challenge because this fitting was considered "tribal knowledge" and never documented. I believe I learned several skills and lessons that have helped me to be prepared for a Mechanical Engineering position. The last year of working with Walker Engineered Products a subsidiary of Wabash National was focused on finding a way to automate welding for a particular step in the process. The main reason was to eliminate unsafe work conditions for the welders. Throughout this project I brainstormed different possibilities of solutions, sourced types of welding applications following the goal of our project, and fixture design to hold the pieces to be welded together. A business justification was also used to calculate the impact this automated cell would have. This project helped to prepare me for a future position as a Manufacturing Engineer or a Project Engineer.My most recent experience at Plank Enterprises has continued to prepare me for a Manufacturing Engineering position. My main project has been to document the assembly process for each individual type of light. I also did a time study for each as a baseline to compare any future improvements to the process. Combined with my early experiences with Wabash National focusing on 5S, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing principals; I feel prepared for a Lean Manufacturing position. Projects like building a tool board for the welders and assemblers which held the tools they needed in a designated spot. I also color coded the overhead cranes remotes. These projects reduced the likelihood of tools being removed from the station where they are needed. I also spent time revising Standard Work Instructions (SWI's) which brought the process documents up to date with current manufacturing methods.I believe my experience throughout my internships will prove valuable throughout my career. They have given me many skills, lessons, and tips that will help me in a variety of career pathways.
