About Haidar Reda

I graduated from Chiba University in March 2021, after I defended my Ph.D. thesis on sectarian violence in post-2003 Iraq. Additionally, I worked as a research fellow at the Centre for Relational Studies on Global Crises, Chiba University. However, my interests are not limited to Iraqi politics. I am captivated by different cultures. For that reason, I traveled to India to do my M.A. in Political Science. I took this opportunity to learn about the Indian culture. Then I received a scholarship in Interfaith Dialogue under International PeaceMaker Program at Hartford Seminary, USA. In 2013, I returned to Iraq and, with my new skills, I build my own NGO for Peace Building in Baghdad. I also got a full-time job at the University of Karbala as a researcher and lecturer on human rights and democracy. In 2015 I was awarded a full scholarship by the Japanese Government to continue my research at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and began a new chapter on my journey to discovering the politics, societies, and cultures of the world.
