About Hailey Berent

I've been a registered nurse for 5 years and have worked with a wide variety of patient populations in urban and suburban settings. I quickly became a core member of staff by precepting and mentoring new nurses. The experiences I've gained have led me to pursue of positions in healthcare where I can help improve patient care on a larger scale as well as support nursing staff. I've joined unit governance council as well as worked on group projects to reduce falls. I worked diligently as a staff nurse during the COVID 19 pandemic. I provided safe and compassionate care to my community during one of the most fraught times in health care. I have a passion for healing. With this passion, I obtained certifications in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing (CWOCN). As a CWOCN, I provide direct care for wound patients and develop treatment plans to heal, stabilize, and prevent wounds. I also teach ostomates how to care for and live with their ostomies. I aim to help patients realize that not only did their ostomy save their lives but they can truly thrive and enjoy life. In this role, I also empower nursing staff by providing education on wound care and prevention such as pressure injury prevention. I am always seeking ways to engage the nursing staff in wound and ostomy care. I collaborate with quality and system wide education initiatives to improve patient outcomes such as reducing pressure injuries. I am always seeking new opportunities to use my skills and knowledge for the betterment of my community. I have a willingness to learn and engage with my community.
