About Hailey Gilbert
As a teacher of the deaf at Mama Lere Hearing School located within VUMC, I have the opportunity to work with families whose children are deaf or hard of hearing. Throughout my career, I have worked with ages birth to 18 years old. Currently I coach parents on how to best teach their children to communicate using listening and spoken language strategies in the the “Toddler Talk” program. I am based in the toddler classroom with ages 18 months to 3 years old. In collaboration with the child's medical team, I help parents choose which device will best suit the family. With the academic knowledge that I've gained from my Master's degree at Washington University School of Medicine and from continuing education courses I am able to serve the families on my caseload using evidence-based practices. I look forward to many more years of teaching children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen and talk!
