About Haiqa Baig

Solicitor specialising in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. I have worked on multi-million-pound projects relating to both commercial and residential developments, such as hospitals, leisure centres, railway networks, biomass plants, hydropower projects, oil refineries and botanic gardens. I have broad experience in drafting and negotiating various construction documents, including JCT, NEC and RIBA contracts, letters of intent, bespoke contracts, subcontracts, warranties, appointments, performance bonds, novation agreements, parent company guarantees, terms and conditions, settlement agreements and pleading documents. Using skills gained as a team leader, I have also successfully led adjudications and litigation matters, dealing with and settling cases via alternative dispute resolution (mediation), and in the Leeds County Court and Technology and Construction Court. I also have experience in dealing with and providing guidance on FIDIC contracts, and arbitration in IChemE contracts. In addition to legal work, I am heavily involved in BD and marketing, including drafting newsletter articles and Mondaq articles. I have successfully coordinated the organisation and preparation work for Barton Legal’s internationally accredited webinars and the firm’s chapter in “FIDIC Contracts in Europe: A Practical Guide to Application”.
