About Haiying Guan

Dr. Haiying Guan has government, industry, and academic research experiences in the fields of in computer vision, machine learning, media forensics, latent fingerprint and biometric usability, video analytics, medical image analysis, and human-computer interaction. Her current research interests focus on the evaluation program design and benchmark dataset collection/annotation for Artificial Intelligence (AI) system evaluation. Her professional experiences include: 1. Public Evaluation Program – Haiying is technical lead of NIST OpenMFC project since 2020. The work includes new tasks design for future OpenMFC evaluation, Leaderboard evaluation platform management etc. Government Evaluation Program – Haiying was Co-PI of NIST Media Forensic Challenge (MFC) evaluation on DARPA Media Forensic Program from 2016-2020. The work includes evaluation design and development; evaluation datasets design, collection, annotation, and generation. Latent fingerprint and biometric usability – proposed, designed, and developed a real-time user-friendly interactive interface for latent fingerprint collection in a usable biometric kiosk; Proposed a metrics to measure the latent fingerprint quality and built a latent fingerprint dataset for the study. PET/CT medical image analysis (SIEMENS) and content-based medical image retrieval (NIH) 5. Hand and body gesture recognition for the interactive interface of TV (Samsung Information System America) 6. Video analytics on 3D human/object tracking and localization, video quality measurement etc.
