About Hal Coxson
Hal Coxson's entire career has been devoted to assisting clients and the business community generally in developing sound, balanced national labor and employment policies at the federal level both as a practicing lawyer and as a recognized government relations professional. While at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, he helped develop the National Chamber Litigation Center to represent business in landmark litigation both as a party and through the filing of amicus briefs with the courts. Also while at the Chamber and throughout his career, he organized, chaired or advised national coalitions of business interests on critical labor and employment legislation and regulations. As a U.S. Employer representative and legal advisor to the U.S. Employer Delegation at the U.N.'s International Labor Organization (ILO), Hal developed an expertise in comparative and international labor law. He also served as the first U.S. Employer Representative on the President's Tripartite Advisory Panel on International Labor Standards (TAPILS). At Ogletree Deakins, Hal chairs the Firm's Government Relations Practice Group and is the Principal Attorney in Ogletree Governmental Affairs, Inc. He has a close working relationship with numerous trade associations; he founded and chairs the First Tuesday Group, an organization of labor and employment professionals from more than 30 national trade associations. He also co-chairs the Washington Corporate Representatives Group, which consists of government relations professionals who are responsible for labor and employment issues. In addition to his government relations practice, Hal has represented business clients, both large employers and small businesses, and trade and professional associations, through counseling, workforce training, and litigation of disputes arising in the workplace under federal and state labor and employment laws and regulations.
