Greetings from an ambitious nursing student! Since I was 16 years old, I have worked hard to achieve academic and economic success by excelling in school and working a part/full-time job. I have earned several skills and a great amount of professionalism in the past 6 years that have aided in my success today. I was Born & raised in South Carolina, where I graduated from Summerville High School. In high school I was a member of HOSA, student council, and leadership where I experienced a great deal of volunteer work such as helping at food pantry’s, raising money for fundraisers (Walk for Water, Breast Cancer Awareness), handing out water at marathons (Kiawah winter run), etc. While in high school, I worked in a few restaurants where I obtained a great amount of communication and customer service skills. I learned what it meant to have a “job” and the value of the dollar which helped me become financially savvy and modest with spending my income. After retiring from the food/beverage industry, I began working at CVS Pharmacy as a cashier and earned my certification as a pharmacy tech by taking training courses and passing an exam. My responsibilities included filling prescriptions, working the drive through window, and helping patients update their insurance and or finding discounts for their prescriptions. After high school, I attended Trident Technical College with a scholarship that covered the cost of my tuition with an abundance left over! At Trident, I earned over 30 credit hours needed for the prerequisites to get into nursing school. While at Trident Tech, I began a new position as a caregiver for Always Best Care Senior Services. At ABC, I learned a multitude of skills such as taking blood pressure, cleaning wounds, bathing/ dressing clients, assisting with lifts/ transfers, cooking, and proper cleaning/sterilization techniques etc. Fast-forward to today, I have transferred to University of South Carolina in Columbia and am earning my BSN. I now work at The Key, where I provide the utmost care for an elderly couple 3-5 days out the week. My primary goal is to make sure they are living as happily and healthy as possible. I get them to and from their appointments, and grocery shop/prepare nutritious meals. I also help my clients walk and do their physical exercises 2-3 days out the week. My daily tasks are bathing and dressing my clients, assisting with lifts/ transfers, assisting with the commode, cleaning/ laundry, medication administration/ reminders etc.
