About Haley MacDonald

I am currently a Stewardship Coordinator with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), where I manage a portfolio of conservation lands in the Canadian Rockies. Implementing ecological restoration projects is a key part of my role. My core competencies include land stewardship, relationship building, project coordination, and technical writing/reporting. In my previous role as a Conservation Biologist with NCC, I led a team of interns to implement stewardship actions for over 50 conservation properties across Nova Scotia. I conducted detailed baseline inventories, targeted surveys for species at risk, prepared property management plans, and used ArcGIS for geodata management and mapping. I also worked as a Project Coordinator for the Mi'kmaw Conservation Group, where I led the stewardship and monitoring of two aquatic species at risk in Mi’kma’ki. I am passionate about conserving biodiversity and enhancing the resilience of ecosystems. I value collaboration, learning, and innovation, and I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team. I have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Biology from Dalhousie University, where I completed an independent research project examining the diurnal and seasonal patterns in detectability of breeding birds in forested wetlands of Newfoundland.
