About Halima Miradji

Halima Miradji. I am currently working with the Peace Corps Comoros as a Language and cross- Culture Coordinator (LCC). I design and implement the cross-culture and the Language sessions. I have over four years of experience in the education and community development sector. I teach English in different non- governmental schools (both private schools and independent English centers) I am also the founder and manager of “ Voix des Femmes et des Enfants de Oichili ”, an association that focuses on empowering young women and addressing gender disparities within the education sector. We focus on developing communities through workshops and various engaging activities. For group members, we offer weekly English classes and volleyball games against other villages. I also completed the Mandela Washington Fellowship 2014 in the United State of America, where I studied Civic Leadership in Virginia. Furthermore, I have four years of experience working with American members of Groupe de Service Volontaire (GSV) and The Gate – both American NGOs that teach English in the Comoros. I taught five members Shingazidja in order to enable them to develop skills to communicate and work effectively in Comoros. I have worked for ORTN; the Radio and Television station of the island of Ngazidja. I presented news in French and also worked as a reporter. Finally, I am currently working with the ‘’YES WE CAN’’ association which focuses on the teaching of English for free in communities and villages in the country. I hold a degree in Applied Foreign Languages from the University of Comoros. In my free time I enjoy visiting my family and friends. I also enjoy playing volleyball and spend time with young women in my community.
