About Halimatou Konte

Halimatou Konte, MD, is a physician and public health practitioner with over two decades of experience directing programs internationally at academic medical centers and non-profits. Most recently, Dr. Konte served as Senior Director of Clinical and Health Program Operations at African Services Committee (ASC), a multi-service agency human rights agency in Harlem dedicated to assisting immigrants, refugees, and asylees from across the African diaspora. In this role, she managed all aspects of finances and human resources for the agency's health program, which provided prevention, testing, and treatment services for infectious and chronic diseases to vulnerable populations. Previously, Dr. Konte served as Health Program Director at ASC; Testing Center Coordinator at ASC; Pulminologist for the National Tuberculosis Program at Fann Hospital; Clinical Officer for the African Tuberculosis Vaccine Clinical Trial at Fann Hospital; and Medical Doctor at Fann Hospital. She is a member of the NYC HIV Planning Group; CHIPO/Hepatitis B Coalition; NYCEAL Alliance NYC; NYC Against TB; West Orange Social Group; Ordre National des Médecins du Sénégal; and Médecins de Brousse. Dr. Konte holds a medical degree from University Cheikh Anta Diop and family development credentials for leaders with an emphasis in culture, health, and human development from University of Connecticut. She speaks French, Wolof, Fulani, Mandingo, English, and Spanish. Dr. Konte lives in West Orange, New Jersey, with her family.
