About Hameed Ahmed

As an Automation Engineer at Gulf Keystone Petroleum, I work with a team of engineers and technicians to design, implement, and maintain automation systems for oil and gas production facilities. I have developed and programmed PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems for various projects, such as pipeline control, well testing, and flare management. I have also contributed to the optimization and troubleshooting of the existing automation systems, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and safety. I hold an MSc in Automation and Control Systems Engineering from Newcastle University, UK, where I was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. During my studies, I gained in-depth knowledge and skills in advanced topics such as robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and industrial networks. I also completed a research project on the application of reinforcement learning for adaptive control of a robotic arm. My passion for automation and control stems from my BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Duhok, Iraq, where I designed and built a micro-controlled takeout robot that won the first place in the Design Day competition.
