About Hamin Gil

I am a Research Technologist in the Gallio Lab at Northwestern University, a Drosophila neurogenetics lab. I have been an integral part of the lab since joining as an undergraduate research assistant in 2019, and am looking to further develop my research career as part of an ambitious biomedical research team.As a student and technologist in the Gallio Lab, I have learned a plethora of techniques in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, laser microscopy, and behavioral neuroscience. I have been given much responsibility in the lab, from independently designing and executing experiments to training students. In recognition of my talents and efforts, I received Honors in Neuroscience as well as the Christina Enroth-Cugell award for an outstanding senior thesis. This was soon followed by my first professional publication as 2nd author in Current Biology.During my time at Northwestern from 2018 to 2022, where I was a Neuroscience and Psychology double major, I received a quality liberal arts and STEM education. I developed a strong understanding of both fundamental and advanced principles in neuroscience, psychology, biology, chemistry, physics, and laboratory techniques. In addition, I was able to take non-STEM classes on topics ranging from French film to Dante's Inferno.Outside of the lab, I am very active! I enjoy working out and running every day, as well as playing soccer and tennis. As a faithful Christian, I go to church throughout the week for Sunday service, small groups/Bible studies, and fellowship events. Last summer, I began serving as a Worship Leader for Sunday services, and am responsible for leading the prayer and worship sessions.
