About Hamish McLean

Working with a Tech R&D team within the Creative Industries is about as chaotic and enriching as it sounds. While the ability to use technology at the forefront of current capabilities can often be rewarding enough; the opportunity to use it not just for the sake of expansion and innovation but for the sake of assisting artists, thinkers and their processes turns tech from something that can often feel somewhat feel anti-human to something life-affirming. I have a long and winding road behind me that I took to get to this point of my career - starting by converting my hobby for programming into spearheading an internal product for an eCommerce company; to being a builder and smart contract engineer as a part of the 2021-22 bull run of web3; and now embarking on a journey to bring common-sense technology to the needs of artists, thinkers, labels and entrepreneurs. My approach has always been about more than technology and that's never been more the case, I have always prioritised the needs and the utility over any technology itself because I've always been fascinated by how technology can enhance humanity; not replace it. Seeing technology in action has always been the most educational aspect of my career. Pushing to users and seeing how your tech impacts them is something that nothing can prepare you for. And pushing to users is something I never want to stop doing. It is my professional goal to get as much work from myself and any team I work with into the lives of real people providing real value. I'm constantly pushing to always take bigger experiments, push harder to find new and interesting value.
