About Hamish Strath
I started my career in the Oil and Gas sector, building and operating drilling rigs. I really enjoyed learning new things and working with a team. I started out building a new drilling rig and once the construction was completed, I moved into the operating role. It was a unique opportunity to experience both the construction and the operation. With the challenges facing the Oil and Gas Industry, I started to explore additional options to determine what my next career goals would be. This brought me to enrolling in the Power Engineering Certificate with SAIT. I am excited to graduate from my program in April of 2021 and look forward to being a contributing member of a dynamic team. My goal is to secure a Plant Operator position to further my career. With my previous experience working on Oil Platforms, I bring unique knowledge of overhauling and installing hydraulic systems and operating and maintaining drilling systems. I know I can make a difference and I am eager to put my skills to the test in a new role.
