Background
About Hamish Zerbinati
I am an Italian & Australian game and level designer. My first experience in the industry was in 2016 in QA while still working towards my degree in Computer Games Design (2017). At that time I worked both in functionality and localisation at Pole To Win International (Glasgow, UK). This experience gave me a chance to work on many and diverse titles. Among those, the most relevant experiences and notable titles were EVE: Valkyrie (on func) which was pushed for the first PSVR hardware and Final Fantasy XV on loc. Due to the "casual" nature of the contract, I moved on and landed a job as a J. Game Designer at deltaDNA (now part of Unity) in Edinburgh. However, I wanted to be hands-on, which is something that working as a consultant I was not fulfilling. After a year I moved to Ubisoft Milan as a Dev Tester (embedded with dev team) on Ghost Recon Breakpoint. In October 2020 I changed role to J. Game Designer on Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Six months, as we shifted to scrum teams, I became Product Owner of everything related to the Beep-0 Powers feature (tool, actions, game objects). In April 2021 I was promoted to Game Designer. I kept working on M+R:Sparks of Hope throughout all 3 DLCs, taking ownership of more combat-oriented mechanics, most noticeably Rayman's weapons in DLC3. In May 2023 I accepted a new challenge, shifting horizontally and became Level Designer. Here I worked on Star Wars Outlaws quests. Once my work was done, in 2024 I shifted to "Secret of The Spires" DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. As this finished recently, I continue on Avatar post-launch content but back as a Game Designer! Yes, I tend to switch fairly often. What can I say? I like and I'm interested in all aspects of game design and would love to get some experience in all of them. From gameplay design to level design, from quest design to narrative. Knowledge sharing is something I deeply believe in and love. Outside of my working hours, I am also a board game and tabletop rpg player, my collection grows at a faster pace that I can make space for. I have also started DMing some RPGs, using pre-existing starting games or campaigns, while also creating my own content. Missions, NPCs, side quests at the ready when needed! I am an Italian and English native speaker and I would like to learn other languages. I love travelling and I find appealing having a taste of life in other places to me yet unknown.
