About Hani Adem

My journey is a blend of two worlds. Initially driven by a passion for chemistry and the desire to create and innovate, I found a new spark when I began volunteering in the refugee community. Within three months, I discovered my true calling and a new way to make the world a better place. Adapting to a new country, I immersed myself in volunteering with CBOs and schools, teaching chemistry to unaccompanied children, translating for Save the Children NGO, and mentoring the refugee community. As an Eritrean refugee, I was promoted to community mentor, giving back to all refugees alike. My journey led me to join the UYBP team as a psychosocial caseworker in StARS NGO in Egypt, where I met visionaries who inspired me to dedicate my life to helping those in need. This adventure has only just begun, and I am convinced that I can make a significant difference. I am committed to volunteering, training to become a professional social worker, and working in Canada or anywhere assistance is required. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's words,"Be the change you wish to see in the world," I have chosen to devote my life to humanity. Accomplishments •Assisted and tutored unprivileged refugee students to pass the matriculation exams to college and universities. •Followed up on clients ongoing case management, responding to emergency situations through advocacy and counselling •Created and facilitated psychosocial-educational group activities through Tailored sessions to help students build their knowledge of their rights, increase life-skills and promote self- reliance. •Participated in TB and infectious illness awareness campaigns, events, and flyer distribution for the refugee community in Egypt. •During the corona pandemic, I actively participated in the first line of defense when refugees' risk was doubled, in distributing hygiene kits and providing online corona orientations to various groups of refugees.
