About Hannah B.

My name is Hannah and I am a current employment counselor at Hired, working specifically for the Dakota County Youth WIOA program and recently transitioning from MFIP, also at Hired. Prior to working at Hired, I attended the University of Minnesota where I studied sociology of crime, law, and deviance. As an employment counselor, I have been able to utilize the knowledge and skills I have gained while studying sociology, but furthermore, I have been able to widen my skillset significantly as I continue to interact with different youth and hear their stories. Skills/tools that I utilize within my role as an employment counselor include: organization, time management, problem solving, development of intercultural competency, and engaged case management skills.When working with my participants, my goal is to build strong relationships and assist youth and families in poverty to become economically stable, and achieve long term self-sufficiency beyond just economics. As I continue to work with participants, I am tracking their progress towards their goals and determining a good fit in their career/job choice while also providing ongoing coaching and employment counseling. As I progress within my career, I am looking to expand and advance my skillset, along with discovering other ways in which I can contribute to making a difference within diverse communities. I am currently in the midst of obtaining my MSW at St Mary’s University of Minnesota, expected to graduate by end of 2025. Engaging in this program has allowed me to continue to expand on my knowledge and skillset in social work, and I look forward to utilizing what I’ve learned in my current and future roles.
