I am currently an Assistant Coordinator at a disability service provider. This role includes: Assisting with upkeep of participant’s information and inputting data onto an online data management system, SupportAbility, including health plans, behaviour support, personal support needs, communication requirements and important contacts Designing monthly newsletters and advertisements on Canva Liaising and communicating with participants’ parents, supports and allied health professionals Gathering data and writing NDIS outcome program reports Copy editing emails and documents Acting as the Authorised Reporting Officer, reporting any approved occurrences of restrictive practices to the Victorian Senior Practitioner Sitting on the panel for interviews of support workers Assisting with the reviewing of company policies Preparing the agenda for staff meetings and taking and distributing the minutes Organising annual staff self-evaluations, providing positive feedback and constructive criticism during the meetings and processing the paperwork My role as Communication Coordinator included: Using tools to determine participants' level of communication and using this information to decide what communication methods would best meet their needs Designing communication aids such as social stories, visual schedules, activity sequence boards and communication cards Supporting staff and clients to use AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) Using apps such as Proloquo2go, Prolo4text, Pictello, Bookmaker, Boardmaker, Tools2Talk, Key Word Sign Facilitating information sessions and training to staff on various communication methods such as Key Word Sign and Communication Aids My past role as a Program Instructor has included: Facilitating engaging programs based around participants' NDIS goals and personal interests Building upon skills in the areas of socialising, activities of daily living, time management, communication, creativity, recreation, art, cooking, using public transport and community networking Supporting participants aged from 7 to 85 years with diagnoses including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, acquired brain injuries, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy and genetic disorders Providing in-home support (cooking, personal care, respite, etc)
