About Hannah Currie

I am a college undergraduate student working towards a bachelors in nursing. I have a neurological condition called Tourette Syndrome, that causes me to make involuntary movements and sounds called tics. My diagnosis changed everything, and it’s taught me important life lessons such as advocating for myself, as well as advocating for those who can’t. With having a more severe case, I love spreading awareness on my misunderstood disorder. I have other jobs jobs; one during the summer and two during the school year. In the summer, I work at a nonprofit camp in Georgia called Camp Twin Lakes, as a program facilitator. CTL serves kids and adults with serious illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges. My job responsibilities include inventory, making sure all equipment are in working order, and facilitating programs. Through this organization, I was able to be professionally trained and certified as a lifeguard, as well as being CPR/first aid certified. During the school year, I am a team lead for Panera Bread, working as a cashier, line production, or dining room. My duties include making and preparing food for customers, provide excellent customer service, take and send down customer’s orders, and train new associates. In addition to this job, I am dance teacher assistant for Joy’s Dance Company in Alabaster, AL. I am also currently employed as a lifeguard at the YMCA Alabaster branch.
