About Hannah Derue

I am co-supervised by Dr. Alfredo Ribeiro-da-Silva and Dr. Jeffrey Mogil as a PhD Candidate at McGill University’s Integrated Program in Neuroscience. My thesis work at the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain (AECRP) investigates opioid tapering paradigms in the context of chronic neuropathic pain using preclinical models. My research is focused on evaluating the intersection of chronic pain and opioid addiction, with the aim of optimizing personalized approaches to safe opioid prescribing practices. Outside of my main thesis research, I founded @PAin+, a company that applies artificial intelligence to software that assists in chronic pain management. This research seeks to develop software-based non-pharmacological interventions for personalized chronic pain management. I have experience in non-research domains as past board member at a registered non-profit charity. I also participate regularly in volunteer initiatives like BrainReach and other science outreach opportunities that seek to bring the general public into discussions on science and it’s importance.
