About Hannah Florez

I am a graduating Master's student with a passion for medical device design and implementation. I recognize that engineering is truly about people and I have a desire to connect with others to design innovative solutions that fit their needs.I get excited to help others, and through my experiences working in food service learned that I thrive in a fast-paced environment. I seek out opportunities to learn new skills and build opportunities for myself. My experience restarting NC State’s chapter of Engineering World Health (now Engineering Wolf Health) has allowed me to gain a wide range of technical and leadership experience. Through NCSU’s First-Year Engineering Design Day, Sophomore Biomedical Design, and Sophomore SolidWorks Showcase I applied my passion for medical device design and learned a great deal of leadership, technical, and communication skills that enabled me to connect well with each team and produce results. Recently, I had the opportunity to connect with a highly diverse team of international students as participants in Engineering World Health’s Virtual Winter Institute. During the 3-week program, my team produced a viable design and went on to compete as semifinalists in the 2021 Rice 360° Design Competition and finalists in the University of Minnesota’s 2021 Design of Medical Devices Student Showcase.I am excited about medical device design and firmly believe that the best engineering solutions stem from the desire to understand and help other people. I would love to connect with you, please reach out for examples of my work!
