About Hannah Murphy

I am passionate about empowering voices that often go unheard, especially those of women and survivors of gender-based violence. As the Service User Involvement Coordinator at Solace Women's Aid, I lead efforts to create a co-production framework within the VAWG sector. My work focuses on increasing the opportunities for survivors' voices to shape and influence our services, ensuring that their lived experiences drive change. In addition to my work at Solace, I am currently pursuing an MSc in Global Development at SOAS, focusing on gender and development. My academic and professional interests are rooted in addressing the intersectionality of gender-based violence, exploitation, and vulnerability. I have developed strong research skills, as well as public speaking and staff training. I facilitate monthly workshops on Service User Involvement for our staff, ensuring that best practices are integrated across the organisation. I am an active member of a steering group for lived experience leads within the VAWG sector. My career is driven by a commitment to advocacy, education, and policy change, particularly for the most vulnerable in society—those facing domestic violence, sexual violence, and barriers to accessing essential services, such as women seeking asylum and those without access to public funds. I believe in a world where these women are not only heard but also supported through policies and practices that prioritise their needs and rights.
