About Hannah Oliver

I have taught college-level communication courses since earning my master's degree from Indiana University Southeast in 2014. I am passionate about effective communication, and I want to help others become successful. I take pride in sharing my love of communication with students in hopes that they, too, will recognize its key role in their future success. My background and interests center on persuasion and oral communication. I also enjoy analyzing the use of social media in the persuasion process. I have taught public speaking, interpersonal communication, workplace communication and introduction to communication courses in hybrid, online, and face-to-face forms at both Hanover College and Ivy Tech Community College. In class, I establish a fun, engaging, discussion-based atmosphere with emphasis on reflection of key concepts. My goal is for students to connect with the material in order to put concepts into practice within their personal and professional lives and become comfortable, confident, and polished communicators. I transitioned to the high school setting in 2018, bringing over these same concepts, and have truly enjoyed the relationships and the meaningful impact I have been able to provide to such a large number of students. It has allowed me to enhance their communication and writing skills and I've also been able to be an active part of planning for their futures, via test prep, interview prep, resume and scholarship letter writing, helping them research college and careers, and eventually helping them choose and apply to various colleges and scholarships. I am currently in the process of obtaining a Post-Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership & Administration in hopes of moving into a leadership role in the future. I currently have nearly 200 internship hours logged and will complete my program in May, 2022. I am confident that my education and experiences, coupled with my communication skills will make me an ideal leader.
