About Hannah Runnels

I am currently the Operations Manager for the Finance and IT department of the City of Southlake. My main responsibilities include overseeing a mix of larger technical with smaller annual projects from initial concept development through project completion, coordination of planning, cost estimation within budget constraints, vendor communication and providing frequent updates to key stakeholders. In addition, I serve as a member of the Data Integrity and Strategy matrix team. Prior to returning to municipal work, I spent 4 years as a middle school teacher and coach. In those years, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science as well as environmental science for 12th grade. I coached basketball, cross-country, track and volleyball at the middle school level, and high school softball. After leaving my career in education, I continued coaching club volleyball for Texas Image Volleyball club out of Grand Prairie, TX. In 2013 I graduated from West Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Science. While pursuing my education, I also participated in Greek life as a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Delta Eta chapter. Following secondary education, I received my teaching certification from Texas Teachers of Tomorrow and began my career in education from August 2016 through May 2020. Outside of work, I am passionate about live music, sporting events, and chasing down beautiful scenery. My goal in my career and in life is to be a lifelong learner, encouraging those around me to do the same while sharing my passions with them. Updated: February 2024
