About Hannah van Ryzin

Hannah is a doctorally prepared acute care nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience as a registered nurse specializing in adult critical care and hospital rapid response systems. Her professional interests include Early Warning Systems (EWS), Rapid Response Team leadership and solving systemic deficiencies surrounding the detection and prevention of deterioration among hospitalized patients outside of intensive care units. Hannah’s academic focus is in adult-gerontological acute care. Her post-graduate education was completed at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing where she graduated with honors in May of 2024. She is a researcher and expert consultant for program development surrounding the application and utility of deep learning, computer vision and artificial intelligence that augment current systems used to detect patient deterioration. Hannah serves as a research assistant on various NIH-funded studies involving critically-ill patients. Programs she has worked on previously have won Maryland Patient Safety Center recognition.
