About Hanny Hakim

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, grew up in El Paso, TX and completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). I relocated to Arizona after graduating from UTEP and completed my Master's of Education in Human Relations at Northern Arizona University (NAU). I started my career in Child Welfare at Arizona's Children Association. I worked as a Parent Aide for a year where I taught parenting skill sessions and supervised DCS visits. I got interested in the field of social work and decided to start a Master's of Social Work Degree online at Arizona State University (ASU). I changed jobs and worked as a Case Aide with ComTrans because I wanted a better work and school balance. When I started my first internship at Everybody Matters, I left ComTrans and worked at a New Leaf as a Nurturing Parenting Practitioner in Spring 2022 because the role fit perfectly with my internship schedule. I completed my internship with Everybody Matters during the Summer 2022 semester. I was assigned to work at Humphrey Elementary School during the Spring 2022 semester. I provided individual counseling sessions. I conducted play therapy sessions that helped enhance coping skills as well as used solution focused therapy techniques. During the summer 2022 semester, I was assigned to work at Johnson Elementary School. I worked with my team and taught Social and Emotional Learning lessons in the classrooms during summer school classes as well as helping develop the curriculum of what we were going to teach for the duration of summer school. In the Spring 2023 semester, I did start my second internship at Horizon Health and Wellness. I facilitated a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy group and a Social Isolation group. I also provided individual counseling sessions as well. I had some unfoerseen family circumstances and had to relocate to the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX metroplex after completing the spring semester at this internship. I currently reside in Frisco, TX. I had to put my degree on hold. During this time, I worked at Lowes as a customer service associate in 2024. I currently am working at Kroger as a Fuel Clerk full time until August of this year. I will be starting an internship at Arrow Child and Family Ministries and will be interning for almost a year until I graduate from the ASU Social Work Program in Spring 2026. I am looking forward to being able to serve the DFW community as a Social Worker.
