About Hans Eichiner

Hans’ professional experience comprises more than twenty years in geological and geotechnical consulting and documentation for infrastructure projects and hydropower projects, with a special focus on hydropower projects in the last 15 years. As a consultant and leading engineering geologist Hans is involved in all project stages of hydropower projects, from feasibility studies to final design phase, and site supervision as well. During feasibility studies and final design in Albania, Austria, Germany and Turkey his consulting practice covers a. o. location of dams and related structures, regarding geological-geotechnical and hydrogeological parameters, borrow areas and material, and assessment of lab tests, geophysical survey, mappings, rock fall protection etc. In the latter project stages he has gained strong experience in consulting and assessment of grouting works for headrace tunnels and shafts in pumped storage schemes and dam areas. His most recent position was as consultant and supervisor for grouting works for a 80m high earth dam and for a pumped storage scheme (430MW) in Austria; Hans has comprehensive experience with different drivages, such as TBM, drill & blast, raise-boring and ALIMAK in tunnels, shafts, inclined shafts and caverns. Beside Hans’ main focus of hydro power plants he is a consulting expert for karst structures regarding infrastructure and HEPP projects. He provides special expertise in detection, survey, and evaluation of karst structures and the measures to improve. Referring to this he participated on several feasibility studies of planned pumped storage schemes in Germany and Austria and several projects of the german railway DB at the NBS N-IN including 10km tunnels. He was responsible for the logging of cores (~15 of core from Jurassic limestones, tertiary and quarternary sediments), interpretation of geophysical survey and additional measures.
