About Haresh Liya

Throughout the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to serve as a Senior Accountant Generalist and an Imports Manager for the Village Supermarket, a Retail Food Store located in Tanzania for over 10 years. I continue to play a critical and an active role in the day-to-day operations of the business by utilizing my expert knowledge in planning & reporting with Microsoft Navision (ERP)/enterprise level accounting systems supporting all five (5) branches and head office with financial reporting, daily cash reconciliations in all currencies to improve controls on transactional functions. Additionally, as an Imports Manager, I work with a dedicated team of trusted employees to bring value to the owners of the private supermarket by designing processes and procedures for imports documentation, pricing, checklists, product variations based on current sales trends. I have extensive experience working with multinational suppliers to plan and conduct seasonal time studies on imported products to optimize store processes. This includes developing inventory documentation, releasing of products and capacity management. I am proud about building relationships with International Suppliers from the UK, Canada, USA, South Africa, UAE and some European countries to drive business results for the retail food supermarket. Working with different cultures – whether locally with 250 employees or internationally requires a commitment level that has nothing to do with “flying solo” and more with being able to ask the right questions to remain focused on the “meat & potatoes” of the business. This is what I do best.
