About Harland Hendricks

I work at the intersection of data, AI, and decision-making in high-stakes environments. As Senior Scientist for Data Science and AI at NATO Allied Command Transformation, I advise senior leadership on enterprise AI strategy and lead a team of ~18 data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and data engineers delivering AI solutions across the 32-nation alliance - translating between operational requirements, technical systems, and executive decision-making.As Founder of Tidewater Quant Solutions, I apply the same discipline to markets: systematic, research-driven portfolio construction with risk treated as a first-order design constraint. The through-line across both is the same: rigorous process, transparent methodology, and durable systems over one-off wins. Background spans 25+ years in defense and aerospace - Booz Allen Hamilton, U.S. Navy, NATO - paired with an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and a Master of Military Studies. The combination is deliberate: business judgment, technical depth, and operational experience under conditions where the cost of being wrong is high.Core areas- Enterprise data and AI strategy- Systematic investing and quantitative research- Executive advisory and stakeholder management- Building and leading high-performing technical teams- Governance frameworks for AI-ready organizationsOpen to advisory engagements and senior roles where data and AI drive measurable advantage. Always interested in conversations with serious operators in defense, aerospace, and quantitative finance.
