About Harm Voortman

I'm Harm Voortman, co-founder of P3rsist, with a background that spans leadership roles in challenging environments across different continents. My career began in the Royal Netherlands Navy, which laid the foundation for my leadership and problem-solving skills. Transitioning to the business world, I pursued a master's degree in international economics and business, driven by a desire to impact global business practices positively. In Africa, as CEO and CFO of SMEs in Zambia and Burkina Faso, I led turnarounds and growth phases under challenging conditions, including navigating businesses through coups d'états and driving significant growth. These experiences taught me the importance of adaptability, strategic planning, and the value of building strong teams. At P3rsist, we advise businesses on creating sustainable value chains that are both profitable and impactful. Our work ranges from strategic planning to operational improvements, with a special focus on agri-processing industries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Examples of our impact include advising a Swiss trader on establishing a natural rubber processing operation in Ivory Coast and redesigning cashew processing facilities for efficiency and sustainability. Based in rural France, I'm committed to applying my experience towards promoting sustainable business practices globally. Outside of work, my interest in regenerative agriculture aligns with my professional focus on sustainability.
