About Harmon Jordan

Dr. Harmon Jordan is a biostatistician with extensive expertise in evidence review and synthesis, quality measurement and improvement, health information technology, evaluation research, and project management. He has worked on the impact of electronic health records on patient safety, the Veterans Administration’s expansion of its electronic health record system, and community health centers’ adoption of electronic health records. Other work has included evaluating physician performance, designing and analyzing quality improvement studies, and conducting technology assessments. He has worked on health outcome risk adjustment, cost benefit analysis, and has conducted quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Harmon has worked in quality measurement and improvement at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, has conducted evaluation research at Abt Associates and RTI International, and has led evidence reviews at Tufts New England Medical Center. He has built biostatistics departments at several organizations. His clients have included the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation of the Department of Health and Human Services. Harmon has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including several articles on risk adjustment of AHRQ quality and patient safety measures. Dr. Jordan served as chair of the editorial advisory board for the Joint Commission Journal on Quality Improvement. He developed and taught courses for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and is a member of NCQA’s Technical Measurement Advisory Panel for the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS). He has served as assistant professor of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and as president of the Boston Chapter of the American Statistical Association.
