About Harriet Read

G'day! I'm a curious UX/UI Designer with a human centred design focus. In my kete is skills in digital storytelling, ideation, design thinking, research, user testing and prototyping - I really just want to solve problems using clever design and take folks on the design thinking journey. I try to firstly design with usability and accessibility in mind and delightfulness as a close runner up. My background is kind of weird but I've had a great time! I studied songwriting and audio engineering out of school, while helping out on photoshoots for magazines and advertising shoots and then I cut my teeth in the fashion industry as a stylist. I had a real 'aha' moment listening to the Head of Digital for Conde Nast in London talk about their move away from print to digital and that pushed me into a marketing and comms degree then into digital marketing gigs and in the past few years I've found my niche in UX/UI and Experience Design. The intersection of people, creativity and technology is chef's kiss for me. I finished a Master of User Experience Design from Wellington ICT Graduate School in 2020 and have worked in UX/UI design since in government and private sector gigs. I'm currently working in strategic UX/UI for TSB as the Digital Experience Lead where we are working on some cool, differentiated digital experiences for our customers around Aotearoa.
