About Harriet Smith

I’m a qualified medical doctor with a Master of Public Health in Management & Leadership, bringing together hands-on clinical experience, digital health innovation, and a passion for teaching and system improvement. My rotations across hospital and GP, hospital and hospice settings in South Yorkshire have given me deep insight into chronic disease management, especially diabetes, across the patient journey. Alongside clinical work, I’ve consistently pursued opportunities in public health leadership and healthcare innovation. I completed NHS QSIR training and led improvement initiatives during my MPH, where I focused on sustainable healthcare systems and health equity. My elective at Hero of Health, a digital lifestyle medicine startup, and my continued part-time involvement there, gave me direct experience working with tech-enabled tools for chronic disease reversal - supporting patients, interpreting health data, and improving user engagement. Teaching and mentoring are central to my work. I lecture medical students at the University of Sheffield and hold a PGCert in mentoring, equipping me with strong communication and presentation skills to support learning and behaviour change in both clinical and non-clinical settings. I’m now keen to bring this unique blend of medical, digital, and educational expertise into a forward-thinking commercial or strategic role - particularly in health tech, diagnostics, or service redesign - where I can contribute to scalable, patient-centred innovation. I’m always open to connecting with others working in health innovation, digital health, or diagnostics -especially those interested in bridging clinical insight with commercial and tech-driven solutions.
