About Harrison Kolar

Howdy! My name is Harrison Kolar and thank you for looking at my page! Before the start of my professional life, I was a band kid and generic nerd. I dedicated myself to music, excelling at the top of the program and earning the John Philips Sousa Award- the highest honor of any band. I was invited by the Program Director to participate in Colorado Music Ambassadors, a group of select musicians who performed in seven European countries in cathedrals, town halls, public venues, and more. In addition, I was the Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and Drum Major of the Marching Band. As a musician, I have a deeper appreciation for the finer details than most people. As a result, I am always striving to develop myself- taking notice and extra care of the finer points. As a young professional earlier in my career, I began working at Life Time Fitness in the Life Cafe. Over the 12 months I was employed, I gleaned much insight into customer service skills. Additionally, I learned useful skills in management. As a Cafe Supervisor, I was charged with overseeing daily shift operations; here, I have gained cash reconciliation skills and administrative/ team management skills. Throughout my time as an academic and as a Cafe Supervisor, I simultaneously was a Ski Patroller at Winter Park Resort, CO. Here is where I found my love for health care and my future career in nursing. As a part of a select group of young patrollers, I volunteered my time and was given tremendous responsibilities which grew me as a person and a professional. As a patroller, I learned communication is imperative to a successful team. I grew my skills in communicating effectively while simultaneously operating under stressful conditions- emphasizing that "slow is smooth, and smooth is fast." After graduating from high school with Honors, I attended Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, CO where I emphasized pre-nursing, earning a spot on the President's List and Dean's List. As I progressed studiously, I also came to be the Student Body President and President of the Student Government Association. Here, I invested more in growing my skills as a leader and as a team player. In May of 2022, I graduated from CMC with an Associates of Science and Associates of Arts. From here, I took some time to work closer to my field and became a full-time Professional Ski Patroller at Winter Park Resort. I have been working since, enhancing my experience and knowledge in emergency medicine, caring for patients under varying conditions, and working with other rescuers effectively.
