About Harshvardhan Singh

I was always curious about Maps as a kid - learning up countries' capitals, places with historical and cultural significance and interesting borders and history behind them. I pursued this curiosity through college by taking up courses like GIS and Remote Sensing and eventually made it my career. I have worked as a geospatial software engineer for national security customers since graduation in 2016. And as they say,"If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life". I am also passionate about emerging technologies in the field of web based geospatial applications using MVC architecture. A challenging task or a new technology at work excites me and helps me push the boundaries of technical feasibility. I have worked closely with customers to provid tailor made solutions by integrating different pieces of software together. From development on completely free and open source technology (PostgreSQL, NodeJS API, ReactJS and ArcGIS JavaScript API front end) to development on priced platforms (ArcGIS REST API, TypeScript and ArcGIS JIMU library) I have worked on it all. Have geospatial data in Neo4J graph that you want to present to the customers in a web app? No problem. I have even worked on geospatial visualization of unstructured data from elastic search data store. I can build insightful Power Bi Visualizations to check data health from live dynamic data. I have built robust python based ETL workflows and backends using arcpy and ArcGIS API for python that update the database or feature services with live data. I have also delivered these ETL workflows in dockerised form. Over the years I have developed a deep understanding of how and where one part of the software fits and how it interacts with the other parts. Given a problem, I can suggest the possible solutions and technology to choose from. If none of the available technologies can solve a problem, I am quite capable of modifying and customizing the available set of libraries or using the libraries to build custom widgets to meet the user requirements. Being in a job that requires close collaboration with national security customers, I have worked on challenging time bound projects like writing a robust script to post-process and populate of high resolution satellite imagery in a geodatabase within a day's time, or writing a script to process DEM of over 9 million sq. km to find out anomalies. I feel I thrive under pressure and that pushes my limits further. It was my curiosity that landed me in this field and its my passion that is guiding me forward.
