About Hasan Awad

A Telecommunications Engineer and Physicist with a multidisciplinary background and a global research footprint. My career spans deep academic research, international collaboration, and an industry-oriented mindset - most recently as a visiting researcher at Institut Polytechnique de Paris – Télécom Paris, in parallel with my PhD at Politecnico di Torino. My current Artificial Intelligence - based work focuses on leveraging traffic-carrying optical fiber networks as large-scale sensing and localization grids to detect and classify external events. This work holds strong potential for applications in early earthquake detection, the Oil & Gas industry, the defense sector, human activity monitoring, and critical infrastructure protection. I have published several articles and presented at leading international conferences, including SPIE Photonics West (twice as an invited speaker), OFC, and ECOC.
