About Hasindu Amarasinghe

I am a graduate of Business Management with a specialization in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. My combination of knowledge with project management and data analysis journey started when I started my internship at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and took a course in project management and data analytics through Coursera. I realized the potential of what could be achieved by analyzing and interpreting project data. So, I started to learn about data science and I am doing sample projects in online platforms and improving my data science skills every day. After completion of my internship, I again joined them (IWMI) as a program management consultant and started to utilize and sharpen my program management and portfolio analysis skills. During that period, I was able to achieve some key achievements to highlight my career development. I developed a staff time submission follow-up model which helped the portfolio managers and project leaders to increase their portion of staff time budget utilization, resulting in a reduced un-submitted timesheet monthly level from 15% to 5%. Through the continuous monitoring process and careful consideration of due deliverables over 90+ projects, it helped to Reduce the overdue deliverables average level from 350 to 75, within the 6-month period. Continuously highlighting my skills and commitment, I got my second promotion with the IWMI family as an Assistant Program Officer - Portfolio Analysis & Project Support. Currently, I am managing the project plans and deliverables in the Smartsheet and timesheet submission process through the SAP system. And I am a valuable addition to their team to analyze project and program data. My main data analysis reports such as portfolio-wise budget utilization analysis, country-wise program budget analysis, and individual project validation analysis and dashboards are helping the program management team, project leaders, and other stakeholders to make their decisions effectively and increasing understanding of the program and projects portfolio. Outside work, I actively engage with the project/program management and data analysis community, sharing insights and learning from peers. I am always trying to apply new knowledge, new techniques, and new methodologies to my projects. I believe if we need to improve ourselves and highlight our capabilities, we must do better work than the previous one.
