About Hayley Cross

An Interior Designer with over 20 years experience worldwide, Hayley has an extensive background which covers a wide variety of project types and sizes, from Interior fitouts through to large Architectural schemes. Graduating from RMIT in 1990 she started the first few years of her career working in Melbourne for both Hassell and Geyer, completing a large number of corporate fitout projects for top tier commercial clients in both Melbourne and Auckland. With this valuable experience under her belt in she moved across to London where she joined the team at Foster + Partners. Hayley was to spend a total of 11 years with the practice, leaving only for a short period of time in 2004 to pursue an rare opportunity working on schemes for luxury yachts with the team at Francis Design. When she returned to Foster + Partners in 2005 her focus naturally shifted into the luxury residential and hospitality sectors. She developed her role at Foster + Partners as a key member of each team focussing on the building interior, thus further reinforcing the company’s ethos to design their buildings holistically from the word go - designing from the inside-out as well as the outside-in. She was promoted to Associate Partner in 2008. In 2010 Hayley joined an ambitious new London practice founded by ex F+P director Robin Partington. Here she primarily worked on luxury residential projects. She was also heavily involved in the emerging Product Design side of the practice working on prototypes for an in-house designed stool and door handle. After 14 years of working in the UK, in mid-2013 Hayley returned to Australia where she initially joined the Sydney office of Cox Richardson. Shortly after she was approached to become the local Sydney representative for State of Craft, a London based design practice, who are currently engaged to design the Penthouse and Luxury apartments for the proposed One Sydney Harbour Renzo Piano towers at Barangaroo. In January 2015 she joined the State of Craft team. On completing the Concept phase of the One Sydney Harbour project, including design and delivery of the marketing suite, Hayley returned to Melbourne where she took up an Associate position at Hassell primarily working as Team Leader on a number of projects including Lendlease's new office at Melboure Quarter and the 39 Storey NAB 405 Bourke Street project.
