About Hazel Duffy

As a former FIFO worker and now Founder of EnjoyYourMine, a social enterprise focused on FIFO personal development, mental health, and wellbeing, I am passionate about transforming the lives of miners both on and off-site. Our services include on-site workshops, keynote speakers, and classes, all designed to support personal development opportunities and mental and well-being for the mining community. EnjoyYourMine, is aiming to provide miners with opportunities that enhance their well-being and foster a sense of community. We believe in the traditional lore methods for wellbeing which states;"In order for me to be well, you need to be well." Witnessing firsthand the challenges miners face, such as high rates of suicide, mental health issues, sexual harassment, and bullying, I recognized the urgent need for a safe, inclusive environment. I also saw a significant gap and need for an additional safe space where FIFO workers can connect beyond the gym and bar. A place where they can meet like-minded individuals, have real conversations with professional guidance, and share their personal stories. Forging long lasting authentic connections. The introduction of a targeted 50:50 gender ratio in the mining workforce further fueled my commitment to creating spaces where male and female workers can come together, supported by professionals, to build lasting connections and resilience. A time of stillness from an injury due to psychosocial issues and a cultural adventure led me to fully pursue this vision of culture change. EnjoyYourMine offers valuable life skills within a safe space, fostering positive communication, promoting trust, and reducing mistrust between workers. Our mission is to build a connected community that enhances mental well-being and overall quality of life. By creating a workplace culture that supports mental health and well-being, we empower miners to make decisions that build a better mind for a better mine. Our goal is to provide authentic connections and educational resources for self-development, allowing miners to explore areas of interest, find enjoyment, and live authentically both on and off site. As a young female entrepreneur and former miner, I am deeply committed to uplifting individuals and fostering a supportive, inclusive mining community.
