About Hazelene Johnson

I am the Coordinator for the Center for Faculty Success within the Office of the Provost at Rutgers University. In this role, I assist in both the development and maintenance of programming to support the professional development of Rutgers–New Brunswick faculty.Driven by a commitment to advancing equity and wellness, I am also pursuing an MPH in Urban Public Health at Rutgers School of Public Health. My academic focus is on addressing the systemic health inequities that impact marginalized communities. I aim to foster a more inclusive, trustworthy healthcare system that better serves the needs of minority populations.I am particularly passionate about rebuilding trust between the African-American community and the overall healthcare system, ensuring that everyone has access to respectful, equitable treatment. Additionally, I seek to support the normalization of emotional balance and self-awareness within the African-American community, helping individuals feel empowered to care for their mental and physical well-being. Through my career, I aspire to be a part of positive, lasting change—creating environments where everyone feels valued and supported in their health journey.
