About Heath Cabot
I am a socio-cultural anthropologist with an expertise on refugees and asylum issues in Europe; human and social rights; and access to healthcare. I have been conducting research in Greece since 2004, and more recently I have also done fieldwork in Italy. My book (Penn Press 2014) is the only full-length qualitative study of the Greek political asylum procedure, chronicling the worsening contexts that, in part, set the stage for the refugee crisis of 2015-16. I am currently finishing a monograph on the meanings of solidarity in Greece through the lens of grassroots healthcare interventions.
