About Heather Brooks

Formerly a multilingual educator with deep roots in language acquisition and K12 education, I am pursuing a new path toward licensure as an Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor at Lewis and Clark College. My strengths are communication, empathy, comfortable with technology, collaboration, critical thinking and the perspective that international work has given me. In my career I have done everything from plan large budget events to leading international teacher trainings on topics such as Social and Emotional learning in the classroom. I have taught every level from preschool to college and can switch from singing a Spanish song to creating curriculum for international students in lightning speed. Teaching has taught me effective collaboration, leveraging technology in instruction and program management, building professional relationships, data analysis and reporting, group management, advance planning, budgeting, scheduling and curriculum development. Everything I do is rooted first in building strong relationships with colleagues and students to create an effective learning environment and an enormous part of building those relationships keeping equity in the front of my mind.
