About Heather Brown

When I was growing up, I wanted to be a seeing eye dog trainer. Why? Because I had a passion for helping people in unexpected ways. Also, there was the dog element, and who doesn't love a good dog? The road of life took unexpected twists and turns, and bridges needed to be built (and burnt). Sadly, none of the roads led to a career in training guide dogs. I've spent years learning and evolving, honing in on my innate strengths and identifying weaknesses to work on. Experience has shown me that I can be most accurately described by the following- As having a talent for developing rapport with both customers and peers- Being able to calm even the most crotchety codger down, and usually make them smile. Or at least shake their head.(Knack for diffusing tense situations.)- Planner addict. Which really just means I love for things to be orderly. Organization is a strength I possess- Being one of the weird ones who remains calm in chaos.(Unless it involves a clown, then I am out!)- My ability to decipher written word, and also the intended tone, is highly tuned- I have a level of emotional intelligence that I have been commended on many times both in my professional and personal lives- I pick up on technical systems/software rapidly, and most any other job related functions as well. Some of the "values" I adhere to personally- Criticism is sometimes painful, but I look at is a necessary tool to improve and accept it as such- Lifelong learning is crucial to well-being, and I proudly refer to myself as a "career student"- People matter. Their feelings, thoughts, and emotions are valid. I may not be a dog trainer, nor do I want to be any longer, but I know connection!
