About Heather Cameron

Awarded Diversity Leader for the Advancement of Women in the EOWA Business Achievement Awards of 2007, Heather Cameron is Director of Diversity Advantage.Prior to taking up independent consultancy Heather was the Principal Adviser for Equity, Diversity and Policy Implementation at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, a position she held for fifteen years. In 2010 Heather led Griffith's successful submission to be awarded EOWA's Business Achievement Award for Leading Organisation for the Advancement of Women. Heather was responsible for coordinating all aspects of staff equity and diversity, including strategic planning, project and policy development, consultancy services to managers and grievance handling, as well as coordinating the University's First Nations Employment Strategy. Heather has conducted numerous investigations and reviews in both public and private organisations, and has been involved in resolving a number of complex cases that involve a mixture of workplace harassment, workers compensation claims, potential misconduct and industrial and legal claims. She is experienced in handling complaints of workplace harassment of all types, unlawful discrimination, and general grievances. Heather has also worked for South Australian Department for Correctional Services where she held positions of Strategic Planning Consultant, Manager of Staff Performance and EEO, and Manager of Staff Development. She worked for WorkCover SA and the South Australian Education Department and in both of these organisations Heather was involved in coordinating and conducting grievance handling processes. Heather's consultancy work encompasses workplace investigations, staff development, conflict diagnosis and the development of strategies to address recurring problems, mediation, and policy development. Specialties: strategic planning, diagnoses and investigations of workplace conflict, equity (especially related to gender equity), policy implementation, complaint investigation.
